Bonjour les amis! Misty Thicket Clothing is pleased to offer you a full Men’s 13th-18th C. French Mercenary Ensemble to tie together our Peasant Pants and Jerkin. Our French poet shirt is ideal for the noble, the common man, the sell-sword, or the rogue! The yoked shoulders offer a comfortable fitted drape while accenting the billowed gathers at the sleeves and base! The collared and reinforced neckline is adorned with a sturdy grosgrain ribbon threaded through durable grommets (for long life) so you can tie the neck closed. The sleeves are VERY full and end in a ruffled wrist (elastic 9"). Casings are reinforced grosgrain ribbon and durably stitched.
Both shirt and pants are made from your choice of natural cotton muslin, a cotton/polyester blend, or the more period accurate linen. It is extremely comfortable to wear, and is the perfect addition to your Renaissance persona. They are truly at home with our jerkin and pants! The sleeves measure about 21” long from the underarm seam to hem, and the shoulders are wide and roomy. The length from back of the neck to bottom hem is 28” long and is available in 3 sizes. All seams have been serged and the hems finished to provide you with years of wear.
Whether you are farming, fighting, or feasting, these peasant pants are smart and durable and will stand up to every abuse you can dish out. You can wear them over your footwear for common comfort, lace them over your legs, or 'blouse' them into your boots for a 'bout of fighting or a day of riding.
The waist is an adjustable drawstring designed to fit 30-48 inch waists (but we will custom tailor waistlines to fit anyone). The inseam is available in 32, 34, or 36 inch sizes and can be rolled, cuffed, or hemmed if necessary. All seams have been serged and the hems finished to provide you with years of wear and tear.
The fabric is easy to care for and can simply be machine-washed when needed. See our swatch card below for available colours.
The finishing touch is our short jerkin. Made of a durable Cotton Twill, the material is supple but remains stout enough for the most active French adventurer. The Jerkin is lined and all seams are hidden and nicely finished. Several grommets down the centre offer additional durability (as opposed to button holes which become worn after time) with leather lacing adorning the front. The Jerkin falls to the waist (not the hips) and will fit almost anyone. Taken together we are sure you agree, the effect is both charming and functional! As always we welcome custom orders on this ensemble so feel free to e-mail us with your personal touches!
